Exhibition overview

The Charing Cross Symposium (CX), first took place in 1978 at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith, London and has by now become the longest running vascular and endovascular symposium in Europe and one of the largest in the world.

London (UK) has been the host city of CX ever since. Until 1998, the symposium was held at Charing Cross Hospital, and between 1999 and 2012 at Imperial College. In 2013, it moved to National Hall, Olympia, and in 2014 to Olympia Grand.

The first CX had 100 attendees. In 2015, the Charing Cross Symposium – Controversies Update had a record number of 4,367 participants, from 79 countries, making it a leading global event.

The CX mission is:

The Charing Cross Symposium raises vascular and endovascular controversies so that a world-class faculty challenges the available evidence in order to reach a consensus after discussion with an expert audience. This forms a three-year cycle. Challenges will be discussed in 2016.

Exhibition details

The Charing Cross Symposium is run in a three-year cycle of Controversies, Challenges and Consensus. The 2016 Charing Cross Symposium main programme will focus on the Challenges in the vascular and endovascular field.

All Charing Cross Symposia are distinguished by a unique and logical programme. They focus on identifying evidence for optimal vascular disease management from head to toe.

Short presentations and time-keeping are key characteristics of the Charing Cross sessions; these enable plenty of time for comments and questions by the expert audience. In addition to the main programme, CX offers a number of parallel sessions and workshops adding to the content presented in the plenary.

The full scientific programme is available on the website.
