MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK
Main description:
Dr Mike Darlison opened a single-handed practice from scratch (no patients) in 1979. Within nineteen years he had five partners, a patient list total of 12,000, of whom 4,800 were on his own personal list. Dr Darlison says, "General practice is not simply applying medical facts and good clinical skills, though this is essential." He immediately opened antenatal and family-planning clinics on starting in a practice with predominantly young families. Well Man and Well Woman clinics, a travel clinic, minor surgery unit, and weight-loss clinics followed later. But most of all he helped the embryo Woosehill Estate patients remedially - to keep physically active and to enjoy the fellowship of the various groups he, his wife, Wendy, and surgery staff set up.
