MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK

Main description:

The College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences in Freetown was founded in 1988 after a long and, at times, bitter struggle. Since Sierra Leone gained independence in 1961 there had been growing need for the country to have its own medical training facilities, but there was opposition to the idea in the government and in the University of Sierra Leone itself. Kosonike Koso-Thomas had a leading role in overcoming that opposition. The project gained momentum and increased in ambition to bring about a college that continues to contribute year by year to Sierra Leone's national prosperity.
