Exhibition overview
The main theme of the congress will be Infection. The result of an orthopaedic surgery can be sometimes overshadowed by early or late infection occurring in approximately 3-4 % of TJA and even more often after fracture fixation. Awareness of the infection problem, knowledge on how to prevent it and the use of up to date diagnostics and treatment algorithms is paramount. Other key topics include musculoskeletal infections, current issues in tribology, infected TKR, complex injuries around the elbow, musculoskeletal tumours, knee injuries in children, DDH and other congenital deformities.Exhibition details
Infection occurs in approximately 3-4 % of TJA and even more often after fracture fixation. It leads to lots of suffering for the patient and can be extremely difficult and expensive to treat. Awareness of the infection problem, knowledge on how to prevent it and the use of up to date diagnostics and treatment algorithms is paramount. The goal of the EFORT meeting is to improve our overall performance in the prevention and treatment of this dreaded complication and thus lessen the burden of infection on patients, hospitals and the health system.
