MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK
Main description:
In the early 1960s, Anne Watts, a newly qualified nurse, set sail for Canada to work in the frozen north of the country, among the indigenous inuit people. Anne later headed for Alice Springs in the Australian outback. She tells what it was like to be a nurse and midwife among a tough cattle-ranching community, and learned of the prejudice suffered by Australia's Aboriginal people. Forty years later, Anne returned to both countries to see how life had changed in Eskimo Point and Alice Springs, and what had become of its people and landscapes.
